What do I do with the personal information you supply?
When you contact me by email or letter I will use the personal data you supply solely to provide you with the products or information you have requested from me for contractual use to fulfill your order. This includes your email address, physical address and sometimes a telephone number if required for delivery purposes. I do not share or sell your information with any third party and I do not operate a mailing list or newsletter. Basically, you will not hear from me again unless you contact me yourself.
Your information is then stored by me to comply with my legal and tax obligations as a business owner. I may also keep a record of emails to inform any future communication between us and to demonstrate how I communicated with you throughout. I do this on the basis of my contractual obligations to you, my legal obligations and my legitimate interests in providing you with the best service and understanding how I can improve my service based on your experience.
How long will I retain your personal information?
I value your custom and protect your data security. I treat your data with care and take steps to protect it using appropriate measures in the workplace and ensuring that third parties have controls in place to handle your data securely (e.g. online payments are securely encrypted and handled by our specialist third party payment processor, Paypal, so that we never have access to your financial details). Currently tax laws dictate that we keep records for a minimum of 10 years.
When you visit this website, information about your device, operating system and browser, and your IP address are automatically saved in log files. This serves a number of purposes, including helping to keep the website secure and helping to diagnose any problems that might arise.
I use a third party plug-in from Stat Counter to capture data such as IP address. This information is used soley for statistical purposes and not to idendify the individual. Statcounter is an online service which helps me to understand my visitors; for example, how visitors find my website, how long they spend on my site, which web pages they are most interested in etc. I use Statcounter to better understand how visitors are interacting with my website to help improve the content, design and functionality. Statcounter is an anonymous web tracking service and does not attempt to identify an individual person; the focus is on what visitors to this website do, not who that visitor is.
